about the family building

So, I’m torn as to whether or not to even include this page on my blog.  Yes, it is a part of my experience – especially as of late, but I don’t want it to define me, my life, my emotions or my blog.  In an effort to give a back story to answer any questions any readers might have, here are the facts:

  • Early January 2007 - quit the Pill.
  • Mid January 2007 – pregnancy #1.
  • Late February 2007 – miscarried at 6 weeks after a healthy heartbeat.
  • Early April 2007 – quit the condoms.
  • Late May 2007 – pregnancy #2.
  • Early July 2007 – miscarried at 7 weeks after a healthy heartbeat.
  • Mid July 2007 – 57 tubes of blood drawn for testing.
  • Late July 2007 – slight oddity in one test – referred to hematologist.
  • Late August 2007 – hematologist says I’m normal – who would have guessed.
  • Early September 2007 – referred by OB to an RE.
  • Early October 2007 – RE ordered more tests.  Tests, tests, tests.
  • Late October 2007 – decisions made
  • January 2008 – pregnancy #3 (metformin & baby aspirin, no femara).
  • February 2008 – miscarried at 8-9 weeks after a healthy heartbeat.
  • April 2008 – met with adoption consultant
  • June 2008 – signed contract with adoption consultant

Love your style. Informal…friendly and yes direct. Gotta say that i just happened to your blog. Saw the part on infertility. Dont let it define you as you said…but you have acknowledged it so i will too.

When (not if) your next pregnancy is suspected…go directly to your doctor and have a blood test to check for your progesterin level. Then again go in a few days. It is something that is often overlooked and alot of pregnancies are lost before they have even been detected. My daughter has two healthy babies (youngest just turned 1 a few days ago); however, she ALMOST lost both pregnancies because of progesterin levels. Something easily correctly by medication during the initial months until those level sustain themselves. I too lost pregnancies. Back then, we were not aware that i had a thyroid problem. That too can cause miscarriage before the pregnancy gets far enough along.

God speed with your family plans!

I don’t think (doubt) I’ve said this on my blog but, I’ve had 2 miscarriages, too. We are TOO much alike.
