In case you didn’t know, there was a little bit of a huge natural disaster/tragedy in Haiti.

It’s crazy the personal connections that so many people seem to have.  Not that you have to have a personal connection to think that maybe waking up feeling really really yuck in your warm bed in your warm house on your nice tree-lined street with your husband going off to work looking handsome and your daughter throwing a royal fit because she finished her bowl of oatmeal and wishes it wasn’t gone isn’t so bad compared to the devastation going on in Haiti today.

It’s been interesting to see what the blog community is doing to raise awareness and money.

Here are a few links worth checking out:

  1. The Pioneer Woman is hosting a different kind of giveaway on her blog today.  She’s giving away two $500 donations to the charity of the random commenter’s choice (assuming it’s legit) plus she is donating ten cents for every comment that is left.  Last I checked there were just under 10,000 comments.  Move the decimal and that’s a pretty big donation, Pioneer Woman.
  2. Nathan Lawrenson (of Confessions of a CFHusband fame) is donating five cents for every new unique visitor to his new photography page as well as portions of photo shoots booked through the end of the month.
  3. Kelly at Kelly’s Korner is giving $1 for every comment left by someone who has donated in one way or another.
  4. Big Mama has a post up today that lists some easy and practical ways to give.  This text thing is genius, I tell ya.

Way to use your power for good, people.
