it’s a metaphor
The other day I was eating some ice cream and sharing it with my favorite little booger.
She likes ice cream, so she was eager to be on the receiving end of this exercise in sharing.
Who wouldn’t be eager about it?
When the ice cream was gone, she cried.
I told her to not be sad that it was gone, but to say “thanks, mom, for the treat.”
It didn’t really serve to make her feel any better about the empty bowl, but it struck a bit of a chord with me.
I think that too often I take the treat for granted and then complain when it’s gone.

But eventually, it will make her feel better. It’s a hard concept when you are only knee high.
