doctors and patience

So, Pipsqueak’s due date is 11/5.

To review, that due date was based on the baby’s size at an ultrasound in August, not off of the typical dates that most due dates get based off of.

After that ultrasound, S’s size grew considerably.

Enough so that the doctor said more than once and emphatically that the date was off and the baby would be here sooner.

Therefore, we have been expecting a phone call about a baby for the last 2 weeks.

I should know enough about doctors to know that they don’t know these things, they just guess like the rest of us.

(Not a slam.  Doctors are great.  They are just not omniscient – i.e. It took 5 doctors plus multiple technicians to diagnose and remove my husband’s 23 pound kidney two years ago.)

Today we learned from the doctor that Pipsqueak will arrive by 11/3…whether she wants to or not.

To say that I’m impatient would be a massive understatement.

What mother on the brink of a new baby’s birth isn’t?

I would wager that I am more impatient than a pregnant woman who feels like an elephant, can’t sleep for more than an hour at a time, uses the bathroom 3,726 times a day, suffers from hemorrhoids, and would like to beg the makers of Pepcid to actually make something that works.

(Don’t get mad at me, we all have our biases.)

Because that woman?  She knows that no one will tell her after her baby is born that she can’t keep her after all.

But if you are that woman?  You can keep your extra weight, bad sleep, squished bladder, hemorrhoids and heart burn.

I’m not interested.

I’ve struggled with commenting here lately as I don’t want to be that reminder of how things can go not the way we want them too.

But I do want you to know we are praying for all involved.
